Over Jona Walk
She started her specialization in internal medicine in February 2020 at the Canisius Wilhelmina Hospital in Nijmegen, The Netherlands. She is specifically interested in infectious diseases and critical care, and is currently completing a fellowship in Intensive Care medicine.
In addition to clinical work, she conducts research in immunology and infectious diseases. She is fascinated by how the cells of the human immune system can be optimized to fight off infection, which was the focus of her PhD research on malaria vaccines. She is also currently involved in multi-center studies on lung pathology and coagulopathy in COVID-19.
Beyond work, she is an enthusiastic scuba diver, both in The Netherlands and abroad, and she teaches CPR and First Aid to divers and medical interns.
